AIRTIGHT v3

G.I. JOE

This toy is hot off the presses.  I just picked him up along with 4 other of his G.I. Joe brethren about an hour ago at Strange Adventures.  As much as I love my Joes I was happy to finally get this wave as it is to be the last wave of figures for several months.  With the second live action G.I. Joe  movie coming out this summer the figures are to resurface with the movie branding after a brief hiatus. I really needed the break.  Christmas was expensive and I shouldn’t be buying stuff for myself right now but toy companies release more product around the holidays than any other time of the year so what can you do?  This whole series of figures is fantastic and brings this chapter of G.I.Joe (what is known as the 30th anniversary line) to a close on a very high note.

Airtight was not a figure I personally owned as a kid but my brother Doug did.  I think I mentioned before how Doug and I would decided right off the bat what toys each of us would buy.  I always liked Airtight because I was a sucker for characters with full face masks and helmets and he had a cool specialty, he was the Joe’s Hostile Environment Specialist dealing in chemical and biological warfare.  This version does exactly what the anniversary figures should, it looks like the original but improves on the detailing and functionality in every way.  At a single glance you recognize this as Airtight.  The bright yellow and green is hard to mistake for anyone else.  The amount of wrinkles in his suit is great and gives it a believable texture.  There’s fine detailing and paint apps on his chest piece which go beyond the call of duty.  Best of all his helmet is removable and the face sculpt is great and is even reminiscent of his face from the cartoon series.  Amazing figure. 9 out of 10.
